Budget Office

Welcome to the Gombe State Budget Office

The Budget Office plays a pivotal role in translating Gombe State’s fiscal vision into a concrete, transparent, and accountable annual budget. As the guardian of the state’s financial plan, we ensure that every naira allocated aligns with strategic priorities, supports service delivery, and drives sustainable development.

Our Vision

To be a centre of excellence in public budgeting — delivering a fair, participatory, and performance-oriented financial plan that empowers Gombe State to achieve its socio-economic goals.

Our Mission

  • Strategic Resource Allocation
Design and oversee a budget that balances competing needs—health, education, infrastructure, security—while preserving fiscal stability.

  • Transparency & Accountability
Publish timely, accessible budget documents and performance reports, and engage citizens in budget consultations.

  • Performance-Based Planning
Link funding to clear targets and measurable outcomes, ensuring every department delivers tangible results.

  • Capacity Building
Strengthen in-house expertise across government ministries and local governments in budget formulation, execution, and monitoring.

What We Do

  1. Budget Formulation & Coordination

    • Issue the annual Budget Call Circular, set expenditure ceilings, and provide technical guidelines to all MDAs and LGAs.

    • Consolidate and harmonize sector bids into a comprehensive State Budget.

  2. Budget Execution Oversight

    • Monitor real-time spending against appropriations, flagging variances and recommending corrective action.

    • Liaise with the Accountant-General’s Office to ensure releases conform to approved cash plans.

  3. Performance Monitoring & Reporting

    • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) for programme delivery.

    • Publish Quarterly Budget Reports and the Mid-Year Review, highlighting successes and challenges.

  4. Public Engagement & Feedback

    • Host annual Town-Hall Budget Forums across the state to gather citizen input.

    • Maintain an online “Have Your Say” portal for feedback on budget priorities and service gaps.
